Lura
Taylor was a founding member of the Texas Printmakers and served as
President of the Dallas Printmakers Guild from 1943 - 1945. Moving
to Dallas as a child she was trained by a series of exemplary art
teachers including Alexandre Hogue, Olive Donaldson, Dorothy LaSelle
and Charles Livingston Bull. Her first exhibition was in 1929 in
Dallas and she remained active over a three decade exhibition
career. In the 1930's and 1940's her works were displayed nationally
and regionally in the finest venues of the era. She married in 1948
and devoted less time to her art career.
